New Covers

Quite a few really lovely covers found out and about this past week. It's long! :)

I am so excited that Maggie Robinson's new series is going to be a mass market paperback release (her previous books are all trade which equals higher prices).  I have really enjoyed her work so I am looking forward to the start of the Ladies Unlaced, In the Arms of the Heiress out July 2nd.  The house in the background reminds me a bit of Downton Abbey :)

Oh, pretty!  The Secret Life of Lady Julia will be out May 28th.  Love the blue and the flower and the little attention to detail on her dress.  I will definitely be reading this one.

I really like gold on the cover and with the addition of the purple sky in the background..lovely.  Love and Other Scandals is the start of a new series or a stand alone, not sure yet.  Look for it July 30th.

And now for a stretch of really lovely green covers!  I have yet to read anything by Adrienne Basso so maybe I will change that with How to Be a Scottish Mistress, which is set for release July 2nd.

Nicola Cornick is also an author I have been meaning to read and collecting all her books.  The Lady and the Laird is the start to her new Scottish Brides series so hopefully I get a chance to read it.  Look for it July 30th.

Yay!!  A new Julie Anne Long!  And the cover!  Love.  I love that she is looking right at you and her dress is gorgeous.  It Happened One Midnight is book eight in her Pennroyal Green series and one I can't wait for its  June 25th release!

Juliana Gray was added to my auto buy list this past year and How to Tame Your Duke is the start of a new series, set for release June 4th.  Added to my list to buy!

How to Lose a Bride in One Night (what a fun title!) is book three in the Forgotten Princesses series by Sophie Jordan.  This cover reminds me a bit of Cinderella fleeing the ball so it will be interesting to see if something like that happens in the book which will be out July 30th.

This is such a fun and flirty cover for the newest Cynster novel by Stephanie Laurens.  I also love the attention to the background detail.  The Taming of Ryder Cavanaugh reaches shelves June 25th.

Isn't this an eye-catching cover?  The lighter colors really work well together.  My Notorious Gentleman is book six in the Inferno Club series and should arrive July 30th.

And finally here is the lush cover for the newest from Karen Ranney, The Devil of Clan Sinclair.  I love when they include stepbacks and the gold is very striking.  Look for this title July 30th.

Whew!  What a great batch of covers!  Which titles are you most looking forward too?

New Covers

Some new covers shared recently. . .

I love Lila DiPasqua's super steamy fairy tale retellings so I am very excited she has a novella hopefully out this month!  She shared the cover for The Duke's Match Girl on her website and I can't wait to read it!

What a perfectly festive cover for a holiday novella!  Deck the Halls with Love is part of Lorraine Heath's current series, Lost Lords of Pembrook and will be out Dec 18th.

Well, this cover is certainly different from Christina Brooke's previous covers (which I loved)!  I'm a bit on the fence about it...I like the pretty dresses better I guess but since these upcoming books focus on the men I guess it makes sense.  Oh well I have London's Last True Scoundrel preordered for its June 25th release as I loved the previous books!

For all you Stephanie Laurens fans she shared her newest cover in her newsletter this week.  I have not read a lot of her writing but what I have, I have enjoyed.  Look for And Then She Fell March 26th.

Maggie Robinson also shared her newest cover via her newsletter this past week and its another good one!  I enjoyed the previous book in this series so I look forward to Captain Durant's Countess and will pick it up on its Feb 21st release.  Bonus the ebook is only $5.94 instead of tenish for a trade paperback!  This makes me really happy and I hope to see it happening more in the future!

And lastly Delilah Marvelle is continuing her School of Gallantry series with three new books she will be self publishing!  The first is Lady of Pleasure which she shared this week.  I have not yet read the previous two books in this series but they are on top of my list for the new year as I have come to really enjoy her wicked sensual unique stories!  Look for this around March.

Well, thats all for now!  Which of these covers caught your eye?

New Covers

This weeks new covers that I have seen, also know as the white dress edition :)

First up is Season for Surrender by Theresa Romain.  This is the follow up to her debut book and I love the little touch of holiday and as the author said herself, it looks like Louisa is up to no good :)  This one will be released October 2nd.

Blackstone's Bride is a new book from Kate Moore and I don't see much information about the story line yet.  I have not read anything by this author but I do like the cover so I guess I will wait for more info on it.  Look for it August 7th.

Oh, look what Julianne MacLean shared this week!  I love it and I love the super sexy stepback as well :)  I am so excited to read this new series and this will be book two and Princess in Love is set for a November release.

I know I have shared the cover of The Bride Wore Pearls previously but Liz Carlye shared the stepback this week and as I love stepbacks, I thought I would share it with you in case you did not see it.  This one will be out July 31st.

Having really enjoyed the first book in Lorraine Heath's new trilogy, Lord of Temptation is on top of my list to read in October.  I like how the author name is bigger than the title :)  I wonder if there will be a stepback for this one because I can imagine it would be nice and sexy...

I don't have much information about this newest title from Stephanie Laurens as I see no info on her website yet and for some reason it is on Amazon and not goodreads yet.  It looks to be a new title as it says 'first time in print' and the release date is set for Sept 25th.  And it has yet another lovely white cover.

Look--a non white cover! :)  I'm really liking this cover!  The shade of blue is lovely and I like the fact the heroine looks like she is about to -- ahem get 'ruined by the moonlight.'  Ruined By Moonlight: A Whispers of Scandal Novel will be out Sept 4th.

And one last one to add quickly-- A Most Naked Solution is a novella by Anna Randol that is set for release June 26th and the cover sure is pretty and gold!  Doesn't necessarily scream 'historical' to me but definitely alludes to the naked part of the title.  This will feature the sister of the hero from her debut book and I'm eager to read it.

So, which covers are your favorites of this batch?  What do you think of the white trend?

End of January releases!

Wow, I can't believe it is almost the end of January already!!  Here are some of the upcoming releases I am most looking forward too.

Heiress Without a Cause (Muses of Mayfair, #1)A Lady Never Surrenders (Hellions of Halstead Hall #5)This one just came out on the 24th and it is the highly anticipated conclusion to Sabrina Jeffries Hellions of Halstead Hall series and it is already downloaded on my Kindle and I hope to read it soon.

Also releasing on Jan 24th, but just for you lucky Nook owners (the rest of us have to wait until Feb 21st, I think) is a debut from Sara Ramsey that sounds good!

Here is a look at all the great titles releasing on the 31st!  Four great debuts from Jillian Stone, Anna Randol, Manda Collins and Sophie Barnes.  Plus a the start of a wonderful new series from Lorraine Heath and a new series from Nicole Jordan, a continuation from Jennifer Haymore (a novella and a full length out on the same day) and from Victoria Alexander and a conclusion from Stephanie Laurens.

An Affair with Mr. Kennedy (The Gentlemen of Scotland Yard, #1)A Secret in Her KissHow to Dance with a Duke (Ugly Ducklings, #1)How Miss Rutherford Got Her Groove Back

The Capture of the Earl of Glencrae by Stephanie Laurens

This was a very satisfying conclusion to the Cynster Sisters Trilogy with the mystery as to why there have now been three kidnappings being quickly spelled out, which I appreciated.  I was also happy with the reason behind the kidnappings and it showed our hero,  Dominic Lachlan Guisachan, eight Earl of Glencrae in a positive light.  Just as he is re-entering society he catches the attention of one Angelica Cynster and being the bold, headstrong female that she is, knows that this tall, mysterious man is her husband to be.  Angelica is pleasantly surprised when her attentions seemed to be returned and convinces Dominic to step out for a bit of air, though it is highly improper.  Dominic can not believe that the last Cynster sister is falling into his lap and proceeds to whisk Angelica away from the ball.

Angelica was a delight to read.  She is strong, fiesty and at the same time, caring and loving.  She agrees to Dominics crazy plan but not without her own little twist.  As she knows deep inside her heart that this is the man for her, she has no qualms about stepping up and helping him rescue his clan.  She steps into the role of presumed countess-to-be with a great deal of grace and charm.  And Dominic can feel the love growing between them but still refuses to bend to passion until matters are taken out of his hands.  Phew!  Can these two burn up the sheets!  But with her family searching for her and Dominic running out of time to save his clan, can these two overcome all the obstacles being thrown there way?

It took me a bit to really get into this story but once I did, I was flipping through the pages and finished it up in one night.  I thought our couple were perfect for each other and balanced each other nicely.  The mystery that has been surrounding the laird from the previous two books is revealed quickly but I thought the ending was a bit abrupt.  Like all the loose threads were tied up too neatly and quickly.  But even with these hesitations on my part, this was a delightful book that will give past Cynster fans more glimpses of this large, bold family but will also showcase a romance destined to be.  4 stars

In Pursuit of Eliza Cynster by Stephanie Laurens

Eliza Cynster is being closely watched by all of her family following the kidnapping of her older sister, Heather, and the only known fact that a mysterious laird needs one of the Cynster sisters.  Which one exactly, no one knows and as a result, they are all closely being monitored.  So when at his sisters engagement ball, Eliza receives a mysterious note from a mysterious suitor, she decides to pursue it and in the process, her own kidnapping adventure begins.  Eliza is not as brave or bold as Heather but she knows she needs to find out more of the whys behind the kidnappings.  Unfortunately, this time the man hired to kidnap her drugs her with laudanum for most of the journey across the border but Eliza finally gets one chance to make an impassioned plea out the carriage window to a curricle passing by.

Jeremy Carling is a bit startled by the face he briefly sees on his way home and it takes him a few moments to connect the dots as to who the young lady was and what she was yelling.  He can not believe that it is Eliza and that she was yelling help.  After all, he knows a bit about the previous kidnapping and knows Eliza was being closely watched.  He knows he needs to rescue her though and sets about just such a course.  Eliza is also a bit startled to have recognized Jeremy, dedicated scholar, and does not hold out much hope that he will swoop in and rescue her.  She is delighted when he sneaks up to her window and together they devious their escape plan.  The escape plan is pretty simple to Jeremy, they will ride hard to her relatives and avoid needing to spend a night alone together.  Eliza throws a pretty big wrench into that plan though and they are forced to take a very long, twisty way back to avoid Elizas captor and the laird and spend five nights together.  Which, you know, leads to all sorts of steamy fun!

Overall, this book was enjoyable but I didn't enjoy it as much as the previous one.  I felt like it a bit of the same plot, with new twists and turns, but still a bit too similar for my tastes.  I really liked Jeremy as he is one of my favorite types of heroes...quiet, scholarly and determined.  I liked Eliza but I didn't really warm up to as much as Jeremy but together, together they were good!  I liked how they just took each day as it came and would deal with the requisite consequences (marriage) later and how they were ok with that.  No big 'I won't marry without love' deal.  Well, there was a bit on Elizas part but Jeremy really stepped up to the plate and made his feelings known for Eliza before she gathered too many doubts.  The best part of this book, for me, was learning a bit more about the mysterious laird and I really can not wait for the next book and it looks like it is going to be full of spirited fun!  Overall, though, this is a good, exciting adventure with a sweet love story that you get to watch bloom into a beautiful ending.  4 stars

Upcoming September releases

Happy September everyone!  Hopefully it brings in some nice cool, fall weather!  Here are a few of the upcoming historical romance being released this month that I am looking forward to:

Lord and Lady SpyRomancing the Countess (Signet Eclipse)The Wedding Affair

Three releasing at the beginning on the month that I plan to purchase are Lord and Lady Spy (which I read an ARC of and loved), The Wedding Affair (I enjoyed her last triple HEA so I can't wait to read another) and Romancing the Countess (Signet Eclipse) which has been getting rave reviews all over and I have been anticipating for awhile now!

Unclaimed (Hqn)Bride for a Night (Hqn)

There are two new HQN books releasing on Sept 20th.  The first is one that I already know is going on my keeper shelf thanks to an arc I read, Unclaimed (Hqn).  If you have not read Courtney Milan, grab this one and try her out, its fabulous!  The other is a new to me author with the book Bride for a Night (Hqn).  The premise sounds good so I hope to try out Ms Rogers with this title.  Pretty cover as well :)

His Mistress by ChristmasSeduction of a Highland LassAlways a Temptress (The Drake's Rakes series)Flawless

Next are a couple being released at the end of the month, Sept 27th.  His Mistress by Christmas sounds like a delightful tale just in time for Christmas.  Seduction of a Highland Lass is book two of a new trilogy from Maya Banks and can I just say... smokin cover!  Always a Temptress (The Drake's Rakes series) is book three is Ms Dreyers Drakes Rakes series and while I have not read any of her books yet, I have heard many good things about them so I hope to try them soon!  Flawless has yet another awesome cover and just for that reason alone I want to read it!  But really, it is the start of a series following four siblings during Queen Victoria's reign.

What a Duke WantsIn Pursuit of Eliza Cynster: A Cynster Novel (Cynster Bride)In Total SurrenderEvery Scandalous Secret

Finally we have the new historicals from Avon also releasing on Sept 27th. I am very anxious to start What a Duke Wants as I have just finished up all four of Lavinia Kents novellas and really enjoyed them and can't wait to read a full length from her!  In Pursuit of Eliza Cynster: A Cynster Novel (Cynster Bride) is book two of a new trilogy and another one I am anxious to read!  The other two new releases, In Total Surrender and Every Scandalous Secret are ones I hope to get to eventually!  My TBR pile keeps growing and growing and my time to read gets shorter and shorter~ I know I am in the minority with Anne Mallory...I have read the previous two books and they were just ok for me while numerous of my other friends love her.  The hero of this one sounds really yummy though so I will try her again!  I have not yet tried Gayle Callen and I think this is part of a series, but I'm not positive on that, and I need to read in order as much as possible so it will be added to my TBR pile!
